ABOUT US
Hello! I am Patty Lorence. I fell in love with my first Golden Retriever in 1992, my sweet Emmy. She came into my life somewhat accidentally. A family member could no longer keep her. She became our legacy and the breed became my passion.
In 1996, I was very fortunate to find Gabriel, Bargello’s Guardian Angel, our namesake, bred by Barbara Tinker, a well-known and respected breeder from New York. Bargello dogs were honored at the Golden Retriever National Specialty in 2005, following her unfortunate passing in January 2003. Barbara bred, owned, and trained the famous “Stitch”, at that time the most titled dog in Golden Retriever history. Gabe was from one of Barbara’s last litters and it was an honor to meet her and to share my life with Gabe, especially for nearly 14 years!
OUR VISION
To improve the health and longevity of the Golden Retriever;
To breed sound, robust, moderately built and beautiful dogs, equally happy as sweet mellow companions or active working dogs.
Our Dogs

OUR PHILOSOPHY
There are enough dogs without homes, so why should I breed? After Emmy's nearly fatal illness at the young age of three, I embarked on a journey of learning - a journey with no specific destination but that led me to the place I am now. Breeding dogs was not in my plan, at least not in the beginning
Emmy's illness resulted in her having to be spayed. She became a somewhat "famous" Golden Retriever therapy dog and we enjoyed every day together. We obtained our first obedience title together and obedience training became my first "love" in terms of all the performance events available to dog lovers today. I lost my Emmy when she was eleven - far too young. All of the knowledge that I gained in the quest to maintain her health compelled me to test my hypothesis - that for a dog to live a long life it must have sound healthy ancestors, the best nutrition possible, appropriate exercise, and "a job" that keeps their minds healthy and active - typically through some form of training.
Training and breeding Golden Retrievers became my life interest. A few years after Gabe came into my life and after a very long search, I found my Becka, Elysian's Hicntry Beckoning RN CD CCA. She and Gabe produced our first wonderful litter of Golden Retrievers. Wanting to have the healthiest and most beautiful environment to raise our dogs, we moved to Colorado and never looked back. Our goldens enjoy plenty of space to run and play, warm summer days to swim, fresh mountain air, and sunny winter days to play in the snow.
Gabriel's pups are raised in our Colorado mountain home and socialized and trained before they go home with their excited new owners. We encourage, but do not require, a raw diet for our Golden Retriever pups. We wean to raw food to give them their best start possible. Before going to their new homes, we give specific instructions on how to transition the pups over to the diet that the owners have selected. I have been pleasantly surprised at how many of our puppy owners decide to feed raw. It is the Gabriel's mission and our new puppy owners acknowledge and respect this immensely.
A Heartfelt Thank You to all of our Gabriel's Golden Retriever puppy owners.
